Why Right-Clicking Gets Low-Res Images

Pinterest uses a content delivery network (CDN) that serves different image sizes depending on where the image appears. When you look at a pin in the feed or on the pin page, Pinterest's layout engine loads a size appropriate for your screen — typically 236px, 474px, or 564px wide. These are optimized for fast loading, not for download quality.

The original image uploaded by the creator is often stored at a much larger resolution — sometimes 1200px, 2048px, or even larger. PinSave's image downloader fetches this original from Pinterest's storage and gives you the largest available version.

The Full-Resolution Method (Any Device)

Use PinSave's dedicated Pinterest Image Downloader to get the highest-resolution version available.

Step 1

Copy the Pinterest pin URL

Navigate to the pin containing the image you want. On desktop, copy the URL from your address bar. On mobile, tap Share → Copy Link inside the Pinterest app. Make sure it's a pin URL containing /pin/.

Step 2

Go to PinSave Image Downloader

Open pinsave.cc/en/pinterest-image-downloader in your browser. (Or use the main tool at pinsave.cc/en/ — it auto-detects image pins.)

Step 3

Paste the URL and click Download

Paste the Pinterest URL into the input box and click or tap Download. PinSave will retrieve all available image sizes.

Step 4

Choose "Original" or the largest size

When results appear, you'll see options like Original, 736px, 564px, and 474px. Click ↓ Download Original to get the highest resolution. Click to download.

Tip: "Original" gives you the exact image as uploaded by the creator. This is always the best choice unless file size is a concern.

Pinterest Image Resolution Guide

Pinterest stores images at multiple resolutions on their CDN. Here's what each label means in PinSave:

  • Original — The largest available version. Could be anywhere from 600px to 4000px+ wide, depending on what the creator uploaded. Always the best choice.
  • 736px — Pinterest's standard "large" display size. Good quality for most uses, wallpapers, and prints up to A5 size.
  • 564px — Pinterest's medium size. Fine for screen viewing, but not for print.
  • 474px — Pinterest's column thumbnail size. Low quality — only use if you need a very small file.
  • 236px — The smallest feed thumbnail. Avoid unless file size is extremely important.
Note: Not all pins have every size available. PinSave shows you only the sizes that exist for each specific pin. The "Original" may not always be dramatically larger than 736px — it depends on what resolution the creator originally uploaded.

What About Downloading Multiple Pinterest Images?

Currently, PinSave downloads one pin at a time. If you need to download many images from a board, you'll need to repeat the process for each pin individually. Batch board downloading is on our roadmap.

For photographers or designers downloading many images for reference, the most efficient approach is to open each pin in a new browser tab, copy all the URLs, then process them one by one in PinSave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pinterest resizes images that are uploaded above a certain dimension to optimize storage. For most pins, the largest version Pinterest keeps is 736px wide. Only images from certain creators (verified accounts, business accounts) or specific upload types retain a larger original. PinSave always fetches the largest available — if Original and 736px appear to be the same size, that's the largest Pinterest has stored.
PinSave downloads images in whatever format Pinterest stores them — usually JPEG (.jpg), but sometimes PNG (.png) for images with transparency or certain design pins. The download button shows the image in its original format.
Yes. PinSave works on publicly visible Pinterest pins without requiring you to log into Pinterest. If a pin is in a private board or requires login to view, PinSave will not be able to access it either.
A few possible causes: (1) You downloaded a smaller size instead of Original — try again and select Original. (2) The original pin itself was a low-resolution image — the creator may not have uploaded a high-res version. (3) Some pins are screenshots or repins of compressed content from other platforms. In these cases, no tool can restore quality that was never there.
Downloading for personal, offline reference is generally acceptable in most jurisdictions. Republishing, using commercially, or claiming ownership of someone else's images without permission is a copyright violation. Pinterest images are created by photographers, designers, and artists who retain their copyright. Always credit the original creator if you share their work.
