Pinterest Downloader FAQ

Clear answers about using PinSave as a Pinterest video downloader, image downloader, and GIF downloader for public Pinterest links.

Pinterest Download Basics

A Pinterest downloader is a browser-based tool that checks a public Pinterest pin link and shows the media files that are available for that pin. PinSave can help with public Pinterest videos, images, and GIFs when Pinterest exposes a downloadable file for the specific URL you paste.
Open the Pinterest pin you want to save, use Share or Copy link, then paste the full URL into PinSave. When the tool finds available media, choose the video quality you want and save the file to your device. For a video-focused workflow, see Save Pinterest Video, or read the step-by-step How to Use PinSave guide.
Yes, for public Pinterest pins. PinSave does not ask for your Pinterest username, password, email address, or browser extension. If a pin is only visible after logging in, belongs to a secret board, or is restricted by Pinterest, PinSave cannot access it.
Yes. PinSave is free to use for supported public Pinterest links. There is no premium plan, daily quota, account sign-up, or software installation required.
Paste the direct URL of a Pinterest pin whenever possible. Links copied from a board, profile, search result, home feed, or shortened share link may not point to one specific media item. If the first link fails, open the pin itself and copy the URL from that page.

Supported Content

PinSave is designed for public Pinterest videos, Pinterest images, and Pinterest GIFs. The result depends on what Pinterest makes available for the pin: some pins include an MP4 video, some include a JPG or PNG image, some include an animated GIF, and some do not expose a downloadable file.
Yes. If the public pin contains an image, PinSave can show the available image file so you can save it. For more detail about image sizes and formats, visit the Pinterest Image Downloader page.
Yes, when the public pin includes a GIF file that Pinterest makes available. If Pinterest stores the item as a video preview or static image instead of a GIF file, the available download option may be different. See the Pinterest GIF Downloader page for details.
Idea Pins use a different format from standard public pins. Support can be limited, and not every slide or media file may be available through a downloader. Check our Idea Pin download guide for practical workarounds.
No. PinSave can only work with publicly accessible Pinterest content. Private pins, secret boards, deleted pins, login-only content, and restricted pages are not accessible to PinSave.

Quality & Files

Often, yes, but only when Pinterest has stored an HD version for that specific pin. PinSave shows the quality options that are available, which may include HD or lower-resolution versions. If the original upload was low quality, no downloader can create a true HD file from it.
PinSave does not add watermarks, logos, or overlays to downloaded files. It also does not promise to remove creator marks or text that are already part of the original Pinterest media. If a watermark appears inside the video or image itself, it was already embedded in the source content.
Pinterest may store several versions of the same video, and not every pin has 1080p or HD available. A lower-quality result usually means the original upload was lower resolution, Pinterest compressed the media, or the public pin only exposes a smaller file.

Device Compatibility

Yes. Open PinSave in Safari or another mobile browser on your iPhone. After the result appears, tap or long-press the download option and save the file to Files or Photos depending on your iOS settings. See the full iPhone guide.
Yes. Open PinSave in Chrome or another Android browser, paste the Pinterest link, and choose the available download option. Depending on your browser, the file may save to Downloads, Gallery, or a browser-specific folder. See the full Android guide.
Yes. PinSave works in major desktop browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on Windows and macOS. On desktop, you can usually click the download button or right-click and choose Save link as if the browser opens the media in a new tab.
No. PinSave runs entirely in your web browser. No app, no browser extension, and no software download is required.

Safety & Privacy

PinSave is designed to work without asking for Pinterest credentials or personal account information. You do not need to log in, install an extension, or give us access to your Pinterest account. For more details, read our Privacy Policy.
PinSave is built for quick browser-based use. We do not require an account and do not ask you to submit personal profile information. As with most websites, basic technical data may be processed for security, analytics, and service operation as described in our privacy policy.
Downloaded content remains subject to the original creator's rights and Pinterest's terms. Saving a public pin for personal reference or offline viewing may be acceptable in many situations, but reposting, selling, editing, or using someone else's content commercially usually requires permission from the rights holder.

Troubleshooting

This usually happens when the URL is not a direct pin link, the pin is private or deleted, the media is login-restricted, Pinterest is not exposing a downloadable file, or the page format has changed. Open the pin itself, copy the full URL again, and try another public pin if needed.
Some browsers open MP4, JPG, PNG, or GIF files in a new tab instead of saving them immediately. On desktop, right-click the download option and choose Save link as. On mobile, long-press the download option and choose the browser's save or download command.
First, make sure the link starts with https:// and points to a public Pinterest pin. Then try copying the link from the pin page instead of a board or feed, refresh the page, or test in another browser. If the same public pin still fails, contact us with the URL so we can review it.
Pinterest pins are not all served the same way. One public pin may expose an MP4 video, another may only expose a preview image, and another may be restricted or deleted. Download availability depends on the individual pin, not just the Pinterest account or board.
